Quicktime Reference Movie Renders My Video Effect Even Though Rendering is Not Required

Hello,

I have applied color correction to a 60-minute clip on my timeline.  The color correction effect shows a green dot, and when I play it back out my Blackmagic Extreme card, it plays perfectly with no dropped frames.

My question - when I create a Quicktime Reference movie, I turn off the "Render All Video Effects" checkbox, and on the final QT movie, I don't see the effect applied.  When I turn on "Render All Effects," Avid MC renders the entire effect and it takes 45 minutes, which really slows me down when trying to get the timeline out of Avid so I can encode it to YouTube.

Can you please explain to me why it is necessary to render the effect for Digital Mastering when infact the effect can playback perfectly in real-time? What's interesting is that for Digital Cut, no rendering of this effect is required at all!

Thanks so much,

Asaf
