I was encouraged to see in the 8.5.1 release notes a bug fix: “MCCET-964: In some instances, you could hear audio pops in dissolves.”
Last week I upgraded to 8.5.2, but I still hear pops in unrendered audio dissolves longer than 30 frames. A LOT. It's actually terrible on my current project – it's more than pops, and sometimes sounds like samples are skipping and getting all jumbled. Sounds pretty bad.
I chalked it up to the fact that my current documentary is full of archival with mismatched sample rates: 96K, 48K, 44K, 22K. The popping seems to happen a lot with sequences where I am using lower quality audio.
Then I suddenly remembered this discovery I made a few months ago in a back and forth with Job ter Burg. Today, I noticed again that all of the sequences I'm working in now have a mix of stereo tracks and mono tracks.
This afternoon I took one of those sequences with lots of popping and I deleted the 2 stereo tracks, leaving 16 mono tracks. BOOM! All popping, sample skipping was GONE. Sequence played perfectly. Mixed track types seems to be a major culprit.
Can a moderator reproduce this? This popping thing is a huge bummer and mixed tracks are pretty necessary these days. I'd like to get this escalated, if possible.
