For the Dell 7910 Workstation three CPUs are in my financial range:
A: dual-8-core E5-2630v3 @ 2.4GHz / 2133MHz memory (Processor will run memory at 1866MHz due to limits of chip)
B: dual-8-core E5-2640 @ 2,6 GHz (around 400€ more than no.1)
C: dual-10-core E5-2650v3 @ 2.3GHz 20MB cache / 2133MHz memory (around 800 € more than no.1)
A and C are Avid supported, B is not supported. (referring system guidelines http://resources.avid.com/supportfiles/config_guides/AVID%20Dell%207910%20Config%20guide%20Rev%20B.pdf
)
Nevertheless my favourite is B. Its the fastest, and from my lecture in this forum Avid probably anyway wont need more than 8 cores.
A is the cheapest, and I don't know what memory speed means, but it does not sound good that it's just at 1866 instead of 2133Mhz
For C I would have to spend most money to get the slowest CPU, wich does not make sense either for me.
Anyone who understands this numbers would like to share his opinion? Could it really be that I get problems with an unsupported CPU from the same type and range, just a little faster? THANKS!
