MC 8.5.1 on a domain

Im looking for a fellow user or two, that has media composer 8.5 or 8.5.1 running on a windows 10 domain to help with trying to narrow down an error im experiencing on multiple systems, and avid tech support can't replicate (as they dont have systems on a domain!!!)
Quick test if on a domain, log in as a domain user, open an avid project, can you apply an RTAS effect to any audio track, say a dyn3 compressor effect. Can you then modify that effect without getting an AMPI error.
If I log into the same machine, using a local account, I dont get the error.
It screams a permission issue somewhere to me, but currently going round in circles with support.
Many Thanks
