After working with avid for almost 25 years, this is the first time i’ve made suggestions on how to improve the programme. lets see if they are implemented?
AUDIO:
1)
Audio timeline.
Big / huge visible numbers / values in a semi opec box on screen when changing audio levels in timeline. I hate the current tiny little numbers display (bottom left) when changing the volume. Starring at screen isn’t good for your eyes, maybe avid would like to save our eyes?
2)
Being able to map audio mixer functions to the keyboard, Pan, Level or even better…. on numeric keypad, type in -14 bring down mixer level of said track to -14db.
3)
Auto mix vo with music. Picture this; You have laid down a vo clip on say trk 18. your music is on tracks 10 - 17 (music and effects). Where ever you overwrite the vo clip Avid automatically places audio key frames 12 frms before and after on the music and effects tracks. And reduces the volume by an amount you can pre set. If you move the vo clip, so do the keyframes for your music.
FUNCTION:
4)
Ability to lock individual settings within the project window. Easy.
5)
A time code app function that constantly updates total durations of selected sequences, so you don’t have to constantly re-calculate total segments.
6)
Ability to map specific keyboard keys to bins. i.e. my music bin, F5, sfx bin, F6, dump bin F7 etc.
7)
Match back to a title, without using the console panel debug. Also, default inpoint on Title 5secs in, so when you slip and slide and edit you automatically have handles.
8)
Adding a third layer of customisable functions to the keyboard using ctrl key as the modifier.
I’d like to see these have the ability to be mapped to a clip or sequence.
9)
A switch that selects if a sequence will either load as a sequence or a source clip.
10)
A simple one button record macro, (watch me this, then do it) when i press you.
