I would like to to Back up every media project I do. Not just the the project files but the media. I would consolidate the media(creating a new sequence) to a external drive. Then change the name of the Avid MediaFiles folder on the the drive to something like ProjectA. Then take my next project and do the same, consolidate to the same drive which creates a new Avid MediaFile folder, change its name and so on. I would then have an external drive with 10 folders named ProjectA, ProjectB etc.
When I want ot revist a project I would simply rename the ProjectA folder back to "Avid MediaFiles" open the project and have to the ability to re-edit excerpt etc.
I am trying this now but fear creating problems that may show up down the road. The reason is the nature of my work requires often going back to old projects for different reason and I don't want to take the time to rebuild, digitize tapes in some cases, reload voice over, graphics etc.
