Pan and zoom gives black window, MC 7.0

On stills of various sizes and formats, the composer window goes black the minute the pan and zoom effect is applied.  From what I understand reading up on this, this is a bug in 7.0?  There must be another way to pan/zoom a still.  Apologies that I am literally brand new to Avid and still learning the "Avid way."

This project is going to include a lot of photos and needs the best workflow for this.  These are simple tasks that are easily done in Premiere or other editors (rant skipped).

I am still reading for solutions; however, If this is a bug, I don't want to waste any more time on it, so what later version was it fixed in?

I won't rehash the conversations about the frustration around how Avid does things but will say that reading those discussions has given me some hope that it will get better and it's still worth learning even though it seems hopelessly antiquated. It's a longtime goal, so I am committed and excited to learn, although that excitment diminishes each time it takes forever to do something that should be very easy.   I am, however, ready to accept the appropriate amount of frustration that is built into the learning curve, and am working my way through the tutorials and just working on editing two very simple projects to start with, migrating them over to Avid from Premiere and forcing myself to learn the program.

Thank you
