Hi everyone, this is a total shot in the dark but I figured it was worth a shot.
I am currently assisting on a feature and working in Avid MC 8.6.3. The footage is Arri Alexa 2k Pro Res 4444 2048x1152. Typically I would just AMA link to the files, transcode to DNX36 and relink again at the end before turning over to color. However, the DIT royally screwed me over at the beginning by insisting she could not provide me the LUTs because there were different ones for each scene and sometimes even for each camera within a scene. Instead, she suggested she send me her DaVinci Resolve project and I could just create new MXF media straight from Resolve thereby saving me the step of transcoding. She assured me I would have no problems relinking to the media when the time came to do so.
Well of course nothing relinks but that's another conversation. My concern is this - I output all these MXFs from Resolve so that they would reflect the LUTs the DIT created and applied on set. Now I am having to go back and manually recut in all of the master Pro Res clips, however, for some reason now when I AMA link to them, they now have the same color as the LUT-treated clips. Even stranger, if I say, use the roller tool in my timeline, the clips appear in my viewer window as being the proper, uncolored 'washed out' look they should be.
I tried transcoding the clips, nothing. I tried unmounting my ISIS workspace with all of my transcoded media and the master clips still were wrong. I've never seen anything like this.
Anbody have any experience about this or ideas on what the hell is going wrong?
