Playback Exception: DIDReader Error

I tossed a trial version of the Avid on my 2014 Macbook Pro for convenience. I meet all the system requirements but I keep getting the following error on playback:

"Exception: DIDReader::XraiseUnexpectedStreamStatus async timeout error"

This happens in the source monitor and in the timeline. Audio plays but picture does not. Then, after a moment, I receive the error. I can scrub through footage fine and it updates in realtime but the problem seems to reside in playback.

I've searched online and two issues seem to be related to this error---having an enabled antivirus and corrupt render files.

I do not have an antivirus. And I didn't have anything in the timeline when the problem arose---it was just in the source monitor. All I had were subclips from a masterclip. I tossed some of these subclips in the timeline to determine if the problem persisted there. Of course it did.

My project works fine on other Avid machines, including an older Macbook Pro. It just seems to have the issue with my newer Macbook Pro. Could this be a graphics card issue?
