avid crashes on export and import 7.0.5 and 6

I have been having numerous problems importing footage and exporting sequences using 7.0.5 and now the new version 7.0.6. I can AMA link just fine, but as soon as I try to import anything, I get the death spiral hang and AVID crashes. Sometimes it just crashes immediately. I did not have these issues until I upgraded to OS 10.10.5 and then upgraded AVID. I have tried creating a new user, and new sequences but I get the same issues. It is becoming unusable. Any suggestions? I have projects to get out.
