Recently loaded 8.5. A Producer sent me a drive with a 20 minute video I have to re-edit.
He originally edited in FCP. I have beeb trying to import it into Avid MC at the highest quality possible
to output for Internet broadcast. The broadcast specs are:
Format: MXF
Codec: XD CAM HD422
1920x1080
fps: 29.97
24 bit
Stereo: 48000 kHz
From my Mac Preview the specs on the video he sent me are:
HDV 1080i50, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062)
Linear PCM, 16 bit Little Endian signed
integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
fps: 25
data size: 3.97 GB
Data Rate: 26.53 Mbit/s
Current Size: 1255 x 706
Several times I tried to Import using conversions into Pro Res 422 or H264 11080p or the native resolution.
I would get audio but a black screen for video. I even tried to AMA import thinking that might be the issue.
I finally was able to import it by converting with Sorenson. I don't even remeber the codec now, I tried so many.
When I finally got it into MC and edited, I went to export and it ran for over 10 hours unitl I had to stop it.
I did this severl times. Eact time both clocks showing progress would click forward with one clock lagging
Just a few seconds or minutes behind the other, but never completing the export task. I have spent three days
scouting the forums, the internet and the videos with no avail.
Is this an 8.5 issue? Am I not converting the FCP mov footage into the right codec? Am I not waiting long enough
for the export, should this take over 10 hours? What is the best workflow for best quality? Please help!
Thank you.
