Media Composer 8.5.1 Source/Record Window Problem

I can't seem to get the composer window to stay in Source/Record mode.  Everytime I try to toggle it in the "WINDOW" settings to "Source/Record" it reverts back to one single  GIANT record window.

Has anyone else encountered this?  Did I miss something in the README or is this a bug?
