Avid Media Composer FIRST crash report AFTER startup !

Hello,
I downloaded Avid Media Composer and when i launch it, the startup work perfectly, every files is charging.
The problem is after that, the software is crashing randomly between 10 at 40 seconds after the startup.

The problem is not when i press or do something specific because even when i don't touch anything the Application crash.

I took a screenshoot of the screen report below.

My pc : Laptop, windows 10, 16go ram, i7, GTX 1060.

I already tried to reinstall Avid like 3 times.

Avid application manager stuck on on "getting subscription data"

Hi. Firstly this worked on Monday and I have not knowingly made any changes to my system since then, but yesterday and today I am unable to log in to application manager with it getting stuck at the "Getting subscription data" message.

I am using Windows 10 64-bit.

Things I have already tried:

1) Turned off my system firewall completely

2) uninstalled and reinstalled both media composer and application manager

3) Gone to preferences and clicked 'Clear Cache files' & 'Restart App Man Helper' and restarted the application manager

4) Physically deleted the AppManager folder in c:\programdata\Avid (app manager has subsequently recreated this folder

5) pinged the avid servers at:

  https://license.avid.com:3443/ping.aspx

  https://license.avid.com:443/ping.aspx

  http://update.avid.com:96/ping.asp

6) restarted my pc (several times)

7) Updating application manager to the latest version.

So far nothing has had an impact. So from a system that was working perfectly two days ago i cannot access Media Composer. I'm due to present a video on Friday so any help for me to regain access to my project would be really really appreciated! Up to now I've been a happy user of Media composer First and have been considering upgrading to make this my primary tool, but I need to know that the licensing is robust.

Avid performance greatly slows down as day goes by

Hi all,

We're having a pretty annoying issue with avid playback that seems to only occur towards the end of a work day, I was wondering if anybody could offer some ideas. 

In the morning everything plays totally normal.  Multicam footage, hi-es stuff, zero issues.  But everyday around 5 PM (our office works until around 7) everything comes to a screaching hault.  Slow playback speeds, dropped frames, constant lag, etc.  This is present on about a dozen systems.  And no matter how bad the last two hours of the work day are, the systems all run perfectly fine the next morning. 

We're running both an ISIS server and an EVO server.  Our machines range but are mostly Mac towers between 2011-2013.  All are on Avid 8.8.4.

Change FrameFlex Default and Copy/Paste FrameFlex Attributes?

Hi,

Is there a setting to change the FrameFlex Default options? I see a setting under the Link setting that lets you choose the default crop setting for FrameFlex but not default dimension. Also, how do you Copy/Paste FrameFlex Attributes from one clip to another on the timeline?

AMT3: Interplay checkin errors

Hello,

We tested the checkin procedure to interplay using the Demo application of the new AMT3.0 SDK itself.

The sample application from Avid has the name “MediaProcessor.Demos.exe”.

We also used a sample clip from Avid itself (is inside the AMT package).

This is the error log from the Application:

INFO - ..\..\MediaProcessor\src\MediaProcessor\DataIO\SOAPRequest.cpp, line: 501: SOAP request finished. Execution took 81ms.

ERROR - InterplayWebServicesNotificationChannel[interplay://ccpostwg/Incoming Media/Genesix] WebService request failed: ..\..\MediaProcessor\src\MediaProcessor\Notifications\InterplayWebServicesNotificationChannel.cpp, 116: Failed to locate 'CheckInAAFResponse' element in the SOAP response body..

And we get this error message by calling the webservice:

 

 

Next we tried to call this function “CheckInAAF” directly from the webservice.

This error message we receive from the Avid webservice by calling this function:

We are thinking that the Avid system is not correctly setup and that is why we cannot check in clips.

Any idea what we should look for into Avid Interplay settings?

Hey there,

 

the following message appears when i try to open a sequence, then MC crashes down:

Some more infos: 

I received the project including .mxf files from someone else and try to reopen it. I got 2 sequences. The 1st one is the problematic one, the 2nd works!

I already checked the rights of the sequence and the .mxf files. I already setup a new default user profile (which most of the time solves problem starting with this "mac2qt" thing).

MC 2018.8 /// Desktop PC /// Win10 ///  i7-8700K CPU @3.70GHz - 32 GB RAM

"Invalid file name" error on startup

Hello,

I'm using Avid Media Composer 8.9.1 on an iMac running OSX v10.11.6 with Avid settings I have been porting from system to system for the past few years.  When I load Avid, I get the 'Select Project' window successfully - but when I load a project (any project) I get a small Avid Media Composer dialoge window with "Invalid file name" error and 'ok' button as my settings are loading. Thankfully Avid continues to load properly after I click OK, so this is not a problem so much as an annoyance every time I load a project. 

I believe it has something to do with my settings, as Avid will load properly when I use default settings. But I cannot figure out what is causing it after searching the support database. I'm hoping someone may have some insight to solve this; does anyone have any ideas?

Windows 10 1809 Feature Update - Not supported at this time

Microsoft has begun releasing the next feature update for Windows 10. The release -- codenamed "Redstone 5," and officially called Windows 10 October 2018 Update (and/or 1809) – was launched Oct. 2nd, 2018 to a limited audience however Microsoft will make this October 2018 Update more broadly available on Oct. 9th, 2018.  

Avid has begun to test this release however it is NOT approved at this time.

*  Media Composer - Windows 10 1809 Feature Update is not supported with Media Composer at this time.
*  Pro Tools - Windows 10 1809 Feature Update is not supported with Pro Tools at this time.
*  Sibelius  - Windows 10 1809 Feature Update is not supported with Sibelius at this time.
*  First Products -  Windows 10 1809 Feature Update is not supported with First products at this time. 

Please do NOT update to the Windows 10 1809 FeatureUpdate until it has been qualified by Avid.

Disk directory not found -- with a catch

Got a disk directory error.  Couldn't launch MC until I trashed media state, then I could.


Created a new project on my internal hard drive (all footage and original project is on external drive).

 

Was able to open the current cut bin from other project.

 

So then I quit out of MC, moved the project over to the external drive.  Launched MC, used the folder icon to naviagate to the project on the external drive... and got the error again.  

Any suggestions?

iMac Pro and ISIS 5500 not playing well together

We are currently running 4.7.10  ISIS and use the NEXIS 7.6 client. When we upgraded our older "trash can" Mac Pros to High Sierra - no problem. We got a couple iMac Pros - transferred the account from the "can" Mac Pro to the new iMac Pro and could not connect to the ISIS server. We installed the latest version of the NEXIS client and now we can connect, but are unable to copy files from the ISIS to our iMac Pro - we get a -36 error (cannot read/write) and also, when we try to lay back a video - it stalls 5 or 10 seconds in. Anyone else experience this?

Jump to Audio TC in Sequence Not Working

Hi, I'm trying to jump to an audio TC (A1, for example) in a sequence using the numeric pad, but it doesn't seem to work.

I have the A1 TC selected in the top display of the Tracking Information menu. I'm on a 2013 Mac operting 10.13.3 (High Sierra) and my Avid version is 2018.5.0.

Side note: Video TC work. I'm able to jump to a V1 or a V2 TC without problem.

Budget PC configuration

Hi,

I'trying to pickup configuration for budget PC which will run AVID. Budget is tight, only 1100EUR. Can you advice me a bit? I'm not enirely sure which components to pickup. So far I picked this:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
Motherboad: Gigabyte B450 Aorus M
RAM: HyperX 16GB (2x8) DD4 3200Mhz CL16
SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB
GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
Power supply: Fortorn Hydro 500W

Is this balanced system? Should I go for stronger CPU insted of GPU? Any other hints?

Dynamic Media Folder: error message saying - AVID Editor Services are not running. Please start services form AVID Editor Services Manager

When I click on Dynamic Media Folder I get error message saying - AVID Editor Services are not running.  Please start services form AVID Editor Services Manager but the service is running and I have a green arrow icon on the top bar of my mac?

What I can say is that since upgrading the application manager I can't sign in my account.

Cpy Cuts / Edits

Hi!

I just wanted to ask, if somebody knows what I wanted to make. I stucked a little bit.

So my problem is..

I know the methods (pan and scan - subdivide)  and this is really really great when i have a long clip and i wanted the edits based on another track edits.

 

BUT

Somebody maybe know the same method to A long audio clip and i wanted the edits BASED ON A VIDEO CLIP.

The most important is that i wanted an automated method if i have hunderds of clips,  and sure I am just really curious about the method in MC.

or there is a method with EDL, ALE...

4:3 project

What is the best way to make 4:3 project in Avid? Should I just create 1920 x 1080 project

and import 4:3 picture to that? Then I will have black on the left and right side of the picture.

Or is it better to create 1280 x 720 project?

Hello 

My footage from my drone  Dji mavick air plays back sluggish in Avid .

I can not do the montage work in this way.

It is too slow aaargh i want to work fast and efficient. 

The footage is ama linked.

Do in need to transcode it first or can i use the direct footage comming out of the drone. 

I hope you can help me with this.

Nexis client, folders in workspaces occasionally locked on windows user level.

Dear Avid, Bob,

I see another case being opened for the latest project I'm doing but before doing so I wonder if you ever saw this before Bob?

About once a week a client of the Nexis storage, it can be a win10 editing client or win 2012r2 server like SGL all of a sudden produces a user rights access warning when you try to access a sub folder or parent folder while browsing either in an apllication or windows itself. Only resolution is to quit nexis client and start it again and that immediatly resolves it.

In the past 6 weeks I have become aware of it happening 4,5 times. So it's not a killer but still a bit worrying.

I've seen it happen with 7.3.2 client and 7.5. Weirdly never with 7.4. And because the 7.4 client accidentally did not include the fix  that could under circumstances cause the media indexer to BSOD, I wonder if that's related or just pure coincedence.

I already have a case open because 7.5 client causes BSOD's on 2 SGL Flashnet servers, probably because RSS is enabled on the 10G cards and wonder if I should open a case for this one folder user rights issue too.

Flickering/Jumping SubCap on Composer 2018

Hi everyone !

I'm on a documentary feature film in which we need english subtitles to broadcast it before making the final subtitles. It's edited on the version Avid Media Composer 2018.4.0.

The editor used a LUT 3D as a specific video track on the whole timeline, and above stand the SubCaps track.

 

In a inexplicable way, some of these subcaps are shaking, even jumping (like briefly changing position from down to middle screen, for about 1 frame time)... and it's random - or more precisely, some of them are jumping, then I replace it by another bit of SubCap, it stops, then it begins again...

I tried to invert tracks (LUT/Subs) and it changes the moments of jumping, but doesn't cancel it !

(For sure I already checked that there wasn't any keyframe on the subcaps position... I also tried to make a video render before screening... every move seems to change something, but everytime in a random way)
