Afternoon all. I'm struggling with the installer for the Linux Nexis client. I'm running Centos 7 and I've tried the client versions 20.7 and 20.5. Both installers are getting dependency errors.
i've tried bypassing (-f) Fuse install as well as only installing the client app (-C). Both hang at the same dependency. It seems AvidNexisObjectAccessModule is missing
What am I missing here?

I am writing today because I recently upgraded my SSD drive and I created a new system. No matter what I tried, it repeatedly told me that I could not deactivate the device. I tried uninstalling Media Composer and it still continued. I have a Perpetual license but still pay annually for more recent updates.
Will someone please advise because it now currently says I am unable to register it
We air in a few hours and I need to make what the client calls a split output file. The mixed stereo version is finished.
I have a timeline with 4 mono and 2 stereo tracks. I need to do a direct out pro res 422 mov file with the tracks going to 8 channels. Unfortunately avid is not allowing me to do it (it wants everything to go to 2 channels -- even with direct out selected). This is a must for my client. I need help immediately. The older versions of media composer could easily to this. You could assign where each timeline channel went to. Not sure why it's not working today.

I have a drive with a bunch of transcripts from an old avid project. All .AVC files. I don't have AVID on my work-from-home system.
Is there a way to convert these .AVC files to .TXT? I can open in TextEdit on Mac but a lot of garbled ASCII (?) apppears too.

Hi all,
A number of our editors started getting this error today:
"Access Denied To /Applications/Avid Media Composer/Settings/MCState Changes will not be saved"
All the editors reporting the issue were upgraded last week to Avid 2021.3 and are running Mac OS Moajve.
It's simple enought to fix by giving the folder /Applications/Avid Media Composer/Settings/ read/write permissions to Everyone, but is this a bug with the latest version of MC?
Users didn't have an issue in 2021.2 and I'm not seeing the issue on my Catalina machines.
I've been away from Avid for a while. I recently purchased a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and have been playing around with it in Premiere. I wanted to try it with Media Composer, but I noticed there are no LUTS for Blackmagic cameras in Media Composer. Does anyone know where to get these and how to import then into Avid. Also, when working with film profile footage, does Media Composer give you the ability to change the exposure (ISO), white balance, etc the way you can in Premiere?
If you wish to edit the text in, say, an existing lower third, and delete the text back to the second character, you can retain any text styling and formatting. But if you delete the first character, the line disappears and the formatting is lost. It should be possible to delete all characters on a line yet rtain position and formatting.
I think I already know the answer to this question but:
I am running MC 2021.3.0 on OS 10.15.7. I don't have a dedicated I/O card. Is it possible for me to hear, through the headphone jack, both the audio from MC and the system audio? (Audio played from internet browser, for example.) Or am I hooped without the I/0 card?
At the moment, the performance is spotty. I'll be able to do both temporarily, but then I'll go back to MC after playing audio in Chrome, and won't be able to hear anything out of MC. I'll toggle back and forth a few times, let some time pass, and then MC works again.
Really hoping I can get this working without an I/O card... is there hope?

I'm trying to wrap long text entries in the Marker Window. Is there a way to do this. I sometimes see the text wrapped when I am switching workspaces but I can't find a way to do it on purpose.
I see several older posts about this but none addressing the solution.
I've recently started working on a widescreen monitor . . . absolutley loving it but I need to be a bit more strategic about bin layouts.

I tried to reinstall to run ilok to connect disconnect account to find activation code (that is no needed for MC First)

File > Output > Export to File does not remember which preset you normally use in MC 2020.12.
1) Use a saved preset to make an export
2) Go to do it again - the setting you've just used is not selected, and a different one is selected.
This inability to remember which preset you've selected even happens without actually doing an export:
1) File > Output > Export to File, choose a preset
2) Cancel
3) Start again - a different preset than the one you chose previous is now selected. I can keep doing this cycle and get random other presets every time.
Another problem is the act of creating a preset:
1) Enter the preset settings menu and create an output setting
2) Save the setting and exit that menu
3) The preset you have just saved is not the currently selected one
4) Choose the preset you've just saved from the list
5) The settings are now the preset you started with, not the one you thought you'd saved
The entire process is confusing and none of the presets seem to stay the way they are saved. It's a mess. Sometimes it works (I've created many presets, but they can come 'unstuck' and acquire the attributes of other presets.
Another issue with this panel, when you want to create an h264 export setting.
1) Choose mp4. Create a few settings.
2) A message along the lines of "Quicktime is no longer supported choose a different codec" appears.
It seems that mp4 exports can only be successfully set up by choosing .mov, not .mp4? (This one is hard to pin down as it appears so randomly).
Most of the above is 100% reproducible, some is more random.
Finally, a suggestion - from within that preset menu, it should be possible to delete a preset, since the creation of presets is often a back-and-forth process you want to test and tweak a few times before you get the file size or whatever you want to achieve.
I'm on Media Composer 2021. If I open the project at Finder Level in Avid Projects, I see no bins only the Search Data foldr/ file. I can find the bins in the Atttic. Is this normal?
Hi all, Just testing my 8 channel zoom r16 audio interface with the audio punch in tool and i'm having a few issues...
In the audio punch in tool, my only input option is the 'windows mixer.' When selected, media composer records the first two audio channels from the audio interface and there's no option to select/arm the other 6 channels on my mixer. I need all 8 channels for this recording.

In other DAW's like pro tools or audition, I'm able to select all 8 of my channels from my audio interface.
I have AISO4all and the zoom r16 drivers installed, would recording 8 channels from a zoom r16 interface be possible in media composer or am I doing something wrong? I have a funny feeling its a driver thing.

Situation Report:
Currently have older Imacs Running Mac OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite) &
And Media Composer 7.0.6 and all runs great as far as Media Composer (What I really need to keep functional)
The Problem is I need to upgrade the OS to to a minimum of 10.13 (High Sierra) in order to install the latest Package for the Adobe Creative Cloud License for Pshop, AE etc. etc.
Mac OS 10.10.5 will not support any of the new Adobe Creative License Suite Install. A big problem, but I dont want to upgrade OS until I am POSITIVE it will not screw up anything in the current Media Composer Running.
Please Advise.

I'm about to film a second short play with students and we will be using a green screen background once again. I am also able to paint the stage floor chroma green and am wondering if painting the whole floor is best or leaving some of it that make up the "garage" we are keying in later. Right now we have the downstage portion of the stage painted a grey color to indicate the garage floor with green painted on the floor upstage where the floor meets up with the chroma green walls. Is it better for editing purposes just to paint the whole stage floor green?

I just had a problem with pro tools.
I was working as usual when I restarted the program. Now when I launch it show me the activation window; "Software Activation: Pro Tools Perpetual". I log in my Ilok account, and it says "You don't have any licenses in your account, or none of the licenses there have activations available."
I tried to deactivate my pro tools license in mi Ilok manager, but it shows me an error that says "one or more activation locations are not accessible"
I don't know what happened, I just restarted the program, pls help.
I have been dealing with a very frustrating issue lately with relinking clips. I link my footage by using the source browser and then transcode to a proxy codec for easier editing and to save file space. Everything goes well untill I finish editing and need to bring the sequence back to full res. For whatever reason it always gives me a hard time relinking the clips back to the original camera negtives. My work flow is as follows:
