Anyone else experiencing this since .8?

The wierdest thing is happening. Imagine computer A, B and C.
Computer A renders in to out. Set to render to the media partition on the Nexis in media creation.
Computer A sees it as rendered. Computer B see it as unrendered.
Computer C see it as unrendered.
Delete render on Computer A
Computer B renders same in to out. Set to render to the media partition on the Nexis in media creation.
Every computer sees the render.
The data bases off Computer A's have been rebuilt.
The media has been moved into Computer B.2 media directopry.
Deleted Computer A's project reference so that rebuilt on Media Composer start up.
Changed the user settings to default.
Reinstalled the Media Composer.
No matter what Computer A cannot render properly so that other Computers can see the render?
Currently Media Composer 8.6.5 is being uninstalled to install 8.5.3 (computer A is 8.6.5, B is 8.5.3)
But there is other 8.6.5 in the company that work perfectly with other versions of Media Composer.
Has anyone had anyone had any similar experiances?
Any ideas
about what to try next if this downgraded doesn't fix it or what
might be cause the issue?

Hi all,
I'm having an issue with subtitles.
For some reason I'm getting a weird alignment issue with the second line of text that causes ugly looking extra space on the coloured box. See the image below.
It's odd beause I'm using the exact same settings for each SubCap effect.
Has anyone come across this?

Hi team,
Updated one of our test machines today to the new 2018.12.2 release hoping that scriptsync would be fixed, but we're still havning issues.
The client is an iMac Pro running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.3 and Avid Media Composer Ultimate 2018.12.2.
When attempting to scriptsync, the client get's the error:
Error syncing "SCRIPT NAME"
This machine has not been authorized.
Continue?
Yes/No

Avid Link Update 2019.3
We has released a new Avid Link 2019.3 release yesterday, March 13th, 2019. Avid Link 2019.3 has 2 basic improvements to assist with applications performance.
- Performance Improvement:
We have modified the behavior of 3 tabs when Avid Link is now launched. This modification, reduces the QT Web instances that are started when Avid Link is first launched. The following tabs will not “pre-load” when Avid Link is opened: Create Account, Forgot Password and Redeem. If users need those tabs, they can be manually opened from within Avid Link.
- Dongle Backward Compatibility: An update has been made to help support future Media Composer software with Dongle backward compatibility.
Avid Link 2019.3 will be posted on MyAvid so anyone with an Avid Link entitlement, will be notified of this update.
Additionally, we will be depositing Avid Link into many MyAvid accounts over the next few days (approx. 1.6 mil). That will allow us the ability to notify other customers of this update.
We encourage everyone to update to this latest version especially if you are expereincing slow launches.

On my GH5 I film at 50fps. I have a project in MC set at a frame rate of 25fps. When transcoding it asks whether to convert? So far I have said yes. As this is a direct multiple it should be Ok, so can I just transcode at the filmed rate (making slow-mo in edit easier)? What about weird ratios (filmed to edit project) - is it best to convert or to keep as original? (Technically, I am not certain if I have used the correct terminilogy phrasing this question.)

When you right-click on a clip in MC, it takes you to the appropriate MXF file in one of your hard drives. Is there such a function as a project wide reveal files? I ask this in relation to handing over work to a third-arty editor after having done some prep work. How best to manage the process?

Want to know if output YUVs as obtained from DNxHD Decoder are in full range(0-255) or restricted range (16-235). We need to use this Information for post processing purposes.

I spend a fair bit of time clicking the M above the Master fader in the audio mixer in order to very quickly mute all audio and watch an edit in silence.
Is there a way to map this function to the keyboard?
(i.e. I want a keyboard shortcut for 'mute all audio' (along with one for 'unmute all audio'))
p.s. I see that you can also click the speaker on the timeline, which is perhaps faster than going to the audio mixer. But my question is about a keyboard shortcut for this. I'd love to not have to reach for the mouse.

Currently shows 25fps when capture fps (as shown by viewing info for clip in Sony Catalyst Browse) is 100fps.
Be great if CFPS bin column in Avid could be correct.

Hi all,
We're currently implementing AMT v3 SDK for just re-wrapping video/audio essence into Avid OP-Atom files - things are going fine so far for the most part but had some quick observations and questions
A couple of observations:
(1) on Windows - AvOmfToolkit.dll and libjpegV4.dll are not included in the Windows distribution - so there was a linking issue when trying to link with the Avid AMT3 dlls until we put in the AvOmfToolkit.dll and libjpegV4.dll from AMT2 in our AMT3 dll folder - then everything was fine - those libraries are included in the macOS Avid AMT3 SDK - is three a reason why they're not in the Windows distribution
(2) on macOS - all of the AMT3 dylibs use @rpath - except for il.dylib, ml.dylib, libtbb.dylib and libtbbmalloc.dylib - once we changed those to @rpath then all linking was fine.
Questions:
(1) What's the minimal libraries needed to install with our app for just re-wrapping - it seems that when we start up the MediaProcessor in our app that it tries to load all the AMA plugins and in the Avid MC plugins directory too (based on looking at the output window in VS Studio and the Console in macOS)
Basically - We'd only want to include the libraries needed for re-wrapping and not have the SDK trying to load AMA plugins from the Avid installation.
(2) How do you set UserComments in the MAD? We've tried a variety of combinations but nothing seems to work (i.e. no exceptions get thrown for setupSampleBasedPushInput for our MAD but no UserComments are written either to the MXF or AAF file) - it seems like UserCOmments are possible per the XSD's
(3) Can we set the filename prefix (i.e. the Video/Audio label of the filename) of the outputted Avid MXF OP-Atom files by set to something other than Video***, Audio*** in the MAD?
(4) Do we always have to write to a folder that doesn't exist for Avid MXF OP-Atom? Trying to write to a folder that does exist seems to throw an exception and trackSink->write blocks forever
Hopefully all of the above questions made sense and please let me know if we're doing doing something wrong AMT v3 per the aobve observations/questions.

I've searched high and low for an answer to this question, and I'm hoping someone here can help me: Recently, I purchased a new computer and transferred the drives from my old device into the new one, including one that had Avid Media Composer on it. My tech guy said I'd have to reinstall it, and I did, but when I entered my system ID and activation code, I got the following message:
'avid media composer 101 activation failed total device count exceeded'
Now, this is my third computer since buying media composer in 2014, so I can understand how there's a limit as to how many machines I could install my copy on. However, I can't find any articles or help on how to fix this. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am writing about an export problem. I export a Quick time reference from Avid then I am using sorenson squeeze 4 to create the file. No problem to make .mov or mpeg but when I want to do a MP4 it transforms my original 16:9 into a 4:3. I have been searching on the internet for hours to get an answer but I can't find anything. I have tried with different footages and MP4 always has the same issue. so the problem does not seem to come from Avid but sorenson. What is really strange is that when I play the video with the actual windows media reader there is no problem (good 16:9) but when I play it with VLC or Quicktime player or upload on vimeo then comes the 4:3.

OS Mojave 10.14.3 MC 2018.12.2 Project is saved, but get "application AVID MC has quit unexpectedly" when leaving MC.
Maybe related to "app not optimized for your mac" at launch?

For a speedy export (that is then converted to H264 in a 3rd party app) I'm exporting DNX120 as an MXF OP1a.
It would be very useful to be able to view that MXF in Avid, however the regular MXF plug-in does not allow it.
(Interestingly I can export the MXF OP1a via Adobe Media Encoder (As DNX SQ MXF OP1a) and that links just fine in Avid)

After AMA-linking DJI Osmo files, I transcoded them. But, some of them fail. I get this exception:
When I look in the Source Browser I notice that the clips that do transcode show a different AMA Plugin name than the ones that do not transcode. Anyone an idea what might cause this?
its 2019 maybe its time to let us choose were we want to put our avid media files
the drive latters are killing us...
for any big studio with lots of small projects its a nightmare.
also it works fine with any other nle software.
Hey all-
Just curious what some of your compression worfklows are now that Sorenson Squeeze is out of the picture. Our finishing workflow used to be outputting a Quicktime Reference file, import the QTREF into Sorenson, assign a preset, "squeeze", and then continue working within AVID on another task while the compression is happening.
With Sorenson gone, we are forced to output a fullres file from Avid (which locks up the application) and then import that file into Adobe Media Encoder.
AME gets the job done, but it's the additional time and storage space that has increased and decreased our efficiency.
Anyone have any alternative compression software that accept QTREF? or any other efficient workflows you'd like to share?
