MC 2018.12.3, AMA P2 plugin (4.9.0.1)
some files are 4K, some are HD
Resolve will transcode it fine, Avid will link to some files, some not. Even forcing Avid to link the files with Panasonic P2 will result in an error

I can't find out how to make the background in the right-hand window go white when zoomed out to 75%. It always appears as black. If there is no way to do this, I would like to request it as a feature.
The reason is when checking the edges of the frame for irregular archive sources that have been cropped in the 3D Warp, it's really difficult to check dark images on the external "client monitor" because the picture goes tp the edge of the screen. It is only after exporting a sequence and viewing in, say, a QT 7 player window, placed over a large white blank new text doc that the edges show up clearly.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there an easy way already in Avid that I have missed all these years?

Am just about to invest in a new MacBook Pro. It's not a primary work machine, more of a persoal laptop, but I'd like it have the capablilty for occasional /emergency MC editing with dnx36hd-type mediafiles.
Looking at the models just released, could I get away with a dual core 13"?

We have some code that create an AAF structure in C++ and we would like to add custom metadata (such as the ones added with AppendComment method applied on a IAAFMob object) but with boolean, number or date types.
We would like Interplay to detect them with their type in order to have the related typed search available.
Here is an example of what we would like to do with Creation Date (Avid metadata, search on date type) :
Is it possible to do that in AAF ? Which method (C++) can we use?

Hi everyone,
We would like to specify synchronized multicamera clips in AVID Interplay.
The use case concerns clips with same timecode in and out.
The end result that we try to achieve is that the end-user can then easily switch from a camera angle to another in Media Composer.
So far, we managed to create a valid aaf file, do a "checkin" in Interplay (which seems correct, see image below) but the drag'n'drop from interplay to media composer fail with the message "MobId not found" (see image below).
I verified these mobId and it seems that all ids contained in the aaf file are related to existing media in interplay, I don't know what to check at this point..
It's absolutely possible that I am doing something wrong, but I can't get the Three-tone preview to show up in my Symphony.
MC 2018.11, Mac Pro OS 10.13.6; The weird thing is that I'd swear I saw it last week, thought, that's weird, what's that for, went and read about it, came back to investigate , and now can't make it show up. In fact I see no difference when selecting Input, Three-tone or Output on preview, I always see output.
As I say, I am fully prepared to find out it's a simple button I didn't push or whatever, but sheesh, it's makin me crazy.

Probably a dumb question... What is the HW/SW Button? I just upgraded to 2018.12.3 and this wasn't there in my earlier installs.
I know there's another thread dating back to MC 2018.5 dealing with this but I've had crashing on exit from MC with AJA hardware attached since 2018.12 first arrived and it's still there on 2018.12.5.
I know this may be something that AJA has to fix, possibly in conjuction with Avid but we really need a working version of 2018.12 before the new interface version arrives. The suggestion is that the new version won't support my late 2013 iMacs and call me picky but I really like our students using the same version across our facility. So please someone tell me there is a glint of light at the end of this tunnel.
New error message in our ISIS 5500 System Director event log. Over the last 2-3 years, ISB's have been dying at the rate of about 2 per year. I'm expecting this to be another warning sign but just wanted to post it on here to see if anyones seen the "device has a bad block" error. I'm used to seeing "DISK 0 bn...Long Disk IO on DATA READ DiskIOTime" that's usually our indicator a drive is close to failing.
I have been using MacDrive for years, to access Mac formatted discs on
the PC at work. I use a Mac at home, so this has facilitated an easy
back and forth on multiple drives. On occasion, I'd get the error
messages attached here. A system restart has always fixed this issue.
Previously, we were on MC 8.5.3. We upgraded at the end of May, per the
recent Avid subscription requirements. We are now are on 2018.9. The
error messages have gotten more frequent, halting the workflow.
Any ideas? I am reaching out to Mediafour, the manufacturer of
MacDrive, suspecting an upgrade to current version of that app may be in
order.
If anyone here knows of a workaround, I am all ears!

Gidday all,
My trusty 1080p H264 export preset suddenly broke; exports are taking an infinite amount of time (it gradually increases, staying ahead of the time passed), and the only file created is always 48 bytes long.
The processor is busy, Avid and QT are chugging away, the source drive is being read from... but nothing eventuates.
I am googling completely fruitlessly so far... does anyone recognise this at all?
ANY suggestions welcome at this point!

I'm having trouble figuring out the best workflow for producing a h264 or x264 blu ray disc.
The previously advised workflow is QT mov or QT ref from Avid> Sorenson Squeeze to create blu ray files> Avid DVD to author blu ray disc.
However, Avid DVD only supports MPEG-2 encoding for Blu Ray, and I've found the quality is not sufficient for my purposes. It's basically a really lossy crappy encoding that imo doesn't have enough advantage over DVD to be worth bothering with.
Sorenson offers to create x264 or h264 renders for Blu Ray as an alternative to MPEG-2 encoding, but I'm struggling to find a software which can take the resulting .264 video file and .ac3 audio file and actually create a playable blu ray from it. Everything I've tried so far (including Avid DVD) just re-encodes the files into MPEG-2.
What is the advised workflow for this? Ideally I need the ability to add a start menu as well before authoring.

We are running Windows 10 (1709) with Media Composer 2018.11 and Interplay 2018.11 installed on a HP z840. We've noticed that post installing the Nexis Client Manager (18.11.0.9) an issue appears where after half a day or so windows explorer stops auto-refreshing.
This means when you do any operation at explorer level you do not see the change without having to refresh (F5) first. It also means if you mount new drives in the Nexis Client Manager they do not appear in Media Composer unless you quit and reopen the application.
Additionally, with the same software and hardware except on Windows 7 we do not see this issue.

I have some generall questions, regarding my new project. Thanks in advance for reading and helping me to understand these issues.
1. my project was shot on two different cameras and two different FPS: Sony PMW-F3 - 23.976 fps, Sony Alpha A7S - 25fps.
I read here and in this wikidoc (https://wikis.utexas.edu/display/comm/AVID+-+Mixing+Frame+Rates+in+Same+Project) how to bring the different materials together into the same project, by AMA and then Transcode. this is not the problem, this is OK.
So, as a consequence, my timeline is going to include some 25fps clips and some 23.976 clips.
isn't it going to cause some problems in the future? any kind of problems?
the project will be onlined on Adobe Premiere.
2. all the sound files was recorded seperately 25fps.
I intend to sync it in the Avid.
Is there going to be a problem to sync a 23.976fps video with a 25fps sound file?
I am using Avid MC6 on Windows 7.

Very excited to see Avid featured so prominently in the Keynote yesterday.
How exactly will the Avid hardware work? Are there new boards going to be released or are existing ones compatible? If new, is a card all that is required? Does it have basic I/O (e.g. HDMI)? Or do we still need some kind of box? Will the box or the card offer acceleration options for Avid processes? To what advantage? If new cards, will they be available in the fall? If existing cards are compatible, will they be Mac Pro ready when the Mac Pro is released? Will the MC work with Afterburner? Will Afterburner utilize MC codecs or is it strictly ProRes? Thank you...and apologies if this isn't the correct forum. Happy to repost elsewhere if directed.
